To all my dear readers, old and new:
When I started this substack in April this year, I set myself a goal: publish an essay each and every Sunday, no excuses, for at least 25 weeks.
That’s how I needed to do it because I’m just too interested in too many things for my own good. I know that without sometimes setting myself a clear goal and following it religiously at the expense of everything else (except the basics such as earning a living, family duties, etc.), I risk petering out and fragmenting my attention in all directions, therefore standing still.
I’m now at 35 essays and counting, without having missed one single Sunday—so mission accomplished, I suppose.
I’m not planning to stop now, however. Even though the schedule I set myself can be taxing and feels like a chore sometimes, it has proven to be very satisfying, even therapeutic. In a world gone mad, finding a creative outlet that allows you to use whatever you can bring to the table to modestly contribute to “debugging” the collective mind space—a mind space that is so sullied by the constant onslaught of crazy-making information—is just the ticket to enjoying at least a few brief moments of peace and balance.
Speaking of which, the last few days have been a bit rough, and I came down with a cold. I’m feeling better today, but I haven’t managed to come up with an essay. So for the first time I’m going to skip a Sunday, and possibly the next one too, before I’ll be back.
So I gonna say: the loveliest of Christmas seasons to y’all!
In the meantime, especially those of you who are new here should check out some of my older posts. As you know, most of my essays are not about current events, so it doesn’t really matter how recent they are. Substack seems to be a bit more geared towards covering current issues, and good posts can sometimes get lost in the archive—which is a shame!
I just reread this one for example and thought it describes pretty well the rough blueprint of a spiritual transformation:
Note that the vast majority of my posts are not (yet?) behind a paywall. I still haven’t figured out a sensible model to give paid subscribers something extra without holding back what I consider to be important texts for everyone.
A heartfelt thank you to all my readers who keep coming back, liking, commenting, or otherwise showing love and appreciation. And a special double thank you to those of you who have chosen a paid subscription (you know who you are!) even without getting any real benefit out of it for now. It means a lot to me that some of you are willing to support what I’m doing here in that way.
For those of you who have the means and wish to encourage me likewise to keep going, you can choose a paid option here (you can cancel anytime, of course):
Off to new adventures!
See you soon,
L.P.K.
Thank you Luc for your inspiring collection of unpacking and debugging the mindspace this year. It has been a beautiful discovery and your way of writing is so inviting, down to earth, personal, heartfelt and positive that it brings a spring to one's step.
I wish you and your loved ones a joyful festive season apart from a quick recovery.
Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well, Luc. Get better soon, and have yourself a merry little Christmas.
And thanks for the self-rec: I indeed haven't read this one yet, and it sounds like a doozy (in the best way).
